If Coyolles is now a simple parish, it used to be the seat of a deanery of the diocese of Soissons, before the Revolution. Coyolles does not have one, but two castles: the "Old Castle" which is an old mansion of the Valois, and a huge castle built in the early period of the Second Empire. Coyolles is even famous in the literature. In "The Wolf Leader", Alexandre Dumas talks about its mill. In September 1914, Jacques Moreau, the Mayor and the Captain of Cavalry participate actively to the success of the First Battle of the Marne. | | |
